Please find below the announcement from the Graduate School regarding the course withdrawal for the Spring 2026 semester.

1. Application: Students must apply online directly through the Yonsei Portal (Academic Information System).

Period: March 17 (Tue), 2026, 10:00 – March 19 (Thu), 2026, 23:59

2. Important Notes

a. Please note that the course withdrawal period has been changed to the 3rd week after the start of the semester.

b. Colleges and departments are requested to accurately inform all General Graduate School students of the withdrawal schedule.

3. Details

a. Eligibility: Graduate School students who wish to withdraw from courses in the Spring 2026 semester

b. Method: Students must apply online via the Yonsei Portal (Academic Information System → Academic Affairs → Course → Course Withdrawal Request).

4. Important Notes Regarding Course Withdrawal

a. Students may not register for a replacement course after withdrawing from a course, and must remain enrolled in at least one course after withdrawal.

b. Withdrawn courses will be excluded from grade evaluation and earned credits, and a “W” (Withdraw) will appear on the official transcript.

c. The record of a withdrawn course will not be deleted even if the course is retaken.

d. Tuition fees for withdrawn courses will not be refunded.

e. Withdrawal of undergraduate supplementary courses is also permitted only during the General Graduate School withdrawal period.

The University Board has confirmed that the graduation ceremony will be held once only, university-wide. There will be no college-level commencement ceremony this February. UIC will instead host a Graduation Gathering (Reception) and Group Photo Session to celebrate the occasion. (See Section 3.B for details.)

FAQs
1. Pickup: Early or late pickup outside the designated rental period is not allowed.
2. Return:
  - Once rented, gowns and caps may be used until the return deadline.
  - Early return is allowed; however, re-rental after return and late return beyond the designated period are not permitted.
3. Non-graduating students, including those who have already graduated, are not eligible to rent gowns.

B) All students in our department must take the Research Ethics course. You may find the course under the Graduate School - Common Curriculum. Research Ethics Course in English has been newly established for the convenience of students. You can take the Research Ethics course in the language you feel more comfortable with, regardless of whether you are a domestic or international student. There is no grading(P/N) and no credit given for this course.

2) Directed Research Course (Non-credit): Under Article 2 of the Graduate School Thesis Regulations and Policies (submission requirements), students whose proposal has been accepted (or will be accepted in the upcoming semester) must enroll in Directed Research courses. Directed Research courses will be automatically included in your enrollment. Please check whether you are properly enrolled in the course during the registration period.

Course Enrollment Guidelines for 2026 Spring Semester

* According to Anti-graft law implemented in September 2016, any personal requests for additional course enrollment are considered illegal. Therefore, course enrollment via personal approval from professors is not allowed from 2017-1st semester. Please register your courses with prudence using mileage-betting system.

** From 2021 Spring semester, students can allocate up to 12 mileage points for UIC seminar courses(courses with codes that start with UIC35(XX) and UIC36(XX)).

*** In principle, the children of professors currently employed by the university will be prohibited from taking courses taught by their parents. Despite the above statement, if there are inevitable reasons for taking his/her parent’s class, then the professor must in advance report to and obtain approval of the Vice President for Academic Affairs by contacting their Dean and the Director of the Department.

1. Enrollment for UIC-first courses : Feb 4 11:00 A.M. ~ Feb 5 10:59:59 A.M.

- UIC sophomores, juniors and seniors may apply for UIC-first courses.
- Students must enroll for the UIC-FIRST courses on the Yonsei Portal System (http://portal.yonsei.ac.kr) from Feb 4 11:00AM.

- Four times the credits of UIC-FIRST course will be automatically deducted from the total mileage of the student. Hence, students who took advantage of this policy will have reduced mileage during course enrollment period.

6. Only seniors with a CGPA of 3.7(A-) and above are qualified to enroll in the UIC Senior Thesis course. Students taking UIC4801 Senior Thesis must enroll for the course through the Yonsei Portal system during the course registration period AND submit the attached form as an assignment submission on LearnUs by the last day of the add/drop period. (As of January 14th, for your reference, whether to open UIC4801 is not decided yet.)

It is the student’s responsibility to obtain permission from an advisor in advance who will agree to supervise them throughout the semester. Eligible advisors are full-time faculty (including lecturers) who currently teach or have taught courses at UIC.

The thesis must be a written document presenting the results of the student's independent and original research on a focused topic (not co-authored with advisors, other professors, students, etc.). As a general guideline, theses have varied from 20 to 40 pages in length. The professor advising each individual senior thesis should decide what format and grading criteria are most appropriate for that academic field, discipline and topic. She/he should guide the student in planning and writing a thesis in that format, grade the final thesis according to those criteria, and send the final letter grade to the Common Curriculum Chair by the end of the final exam period. Students must also upload a copy of their senior thesis on LearnUs. The CC chair will then submit the final grade on the portal. This course is graded (not Pass/Fail).

Greetings from UIC ISE Office,

Starting from 2026, ISED will run Organic Chemistry with a new course code that is exclusively open to ISED students only: <SED2101 ISE Organic Chemistry(1)> for Spring and <SED2102 ISE Organic Chemistry(2)> for Fall.

1. Starting from 2026, all ISED students who have to take Organic Chemistry(1)(2) must take SED2101/SED2102 to be recognized as their MB/MR/ME for the graduation requirement (refer to chart below).

2. <UIC2004 UIC Organic Chemistry(1)> and <UIC2003 UIC Organic Chemistry(2)> courses will be run by LSBT for LSBT students only, and will be counted as GE(general elective) for ISE students starting from 2026.

3. Taking UIC2003/2004 from 2026 will be exceptionally allowed to ISED retakers who previously took UIC2003/2004 before 2026 only. ISED retakers can only apply for UIC2003/2004 during the Course Add & Drop Period for remaining seats available.

2. Amount: Full tuition, 1/2 of the tuition, 1/3 of the tuition, etc.

C. ESP: Students who meet the above qualifications will be automatically selected without any additional application procedures.

3) 근로소득 원천징수 영수증, 건강보험료 납부확인서, 지방세세목별과세증명서 등은 제출할 필요 없음.
4) 제출 증빙서류가 여러개인 경우, 지원서양식을 제외한 모든 증빙서류를 병합하여 하나의 PDF파일로 제출 (반드시 A4사이즈로 통일)
5) 국가장학금 (I, II유형)을 반드시 신청해야 함. 국가장학금 미신청자는 가계곤란장학금 심사 대상에서 제외됨. (횟수초과 등으로 국가장학금 신청불가자는 국가장학금 신청 없이 신청가능. 단, 지원서에 해당 사항 명시)

[Non-Korean students]

The following should be prepared in English.

6) All the documents mentioned above shoud be merged into 1 PDF file except for the application form.

* It is the student's responsibility to convince the school of true financial need. The more supporting documents you can submit the higher your chances of success will be. If possible, for example, you should submit copies of your banking and credit card statements for the past 6 months (12 months preferred), your housing lease agreement, statements of unemployment and bankruptcy by your guardian, and income tax and estate tax statements by yourself and/or guardian. All documents not in English or Korean must be translated into English or Korean.

Click the Download button on the Scholarship Application Form -> Fill out and Save Downloaded Application -> Upload Saved Application > Click the 'Apply' button at the bottom

1) Please scan the supplementary documents or take clear photos with your cell phone, upload them online with the scholarship application form.
2) If there are multiple documents for submission, merge them into one PDF file and make sure to standardize the size to A4.
3) Upload file capacity is limited to 10MB. If the file has a larger capacity, please send them to your division office via e-mail under the title of "2026-1 Needbased_Student ID_Name.pdf".

You must complete the course evaluations and education/R&D survey evaluations to check the grades during the grade confirmation & request for grade change period, so please refer to the following guidelines to participate in the evaluations.

c. All evaluation responses cannot be modified once they are saved.

d. Depending on the nature of the course, not all enrolled courses may need to be evaluated.

[Declaring / Changing Major, Double Major for Integrated Science and Engineering Division Students] (2014 and thereafter)

UIC Integrated Science and Engineering Division (ISED) Students in their 2nd semester are required to declare a major according to the following guidelines. ISED students who have declared their first major may change it within ISED majors by the end of their 7th semester, but may only do this once.

■ Application Period: December 22th(Mon) 9:00AM ~ December 29th(Mon) 5PM, 2025

Major Declaration will be reflected on Yonsei Portal as of March 1st, 2026. Even though students’ major does not show up on the Yonsei Portal before March 1st, 2026 during the registration period, students’ mileage will be vetted according to the major they applied for.

■ UIC Integrated Science and Engineering Division Major Declaration

1. First Major

UIC ISED students can choose their 1st major among the following 3 majors.

① Nano Science and Engineering (NSE)

② Energy & Environmental Science and Engineering (EESE)

③ Bio-Convergence (BC)

* Students will be accepted to the major of their choice without any selection process.

2. Second Major (Optional)

UIC ISED students who have been assigned their 1^st major may apply for a 2nd major among the UIC ISED 3 majors as well as from any major at Yonsei that has announced available spots on the portal. Additionally, ISED students may also apply for their 2nd major in the UIC Underwood Division and HASS Division.

If students apply for their 2nd major within UIC ISED, they will be accepted to the 2nd major of their choice without any selection process.

However, there is a selection process for UD and HASS majors, as well as majors offered outside of UIC, and students must submit a "Reason for Application & Desired Career" and a "Study Plan" through the Portal.

■ Applicable Students

1. First Major

• Declaring 1st Major: Students in their 2nd semester

• Changing 1st Major within ISED Division: Students must declare their 1st major at the end of their 2nd semester and may change it within ISED by the end of their 7th semester

*ISED students cannot change their first major to UD or HASS.

2. Second Major (Optional)

• Declaring 2nd Major: Students who have been assigned their 1^st major (including those on a leave of absence) may apply for a double major from their third semester up until the semester prior to their final semester(the semester before their graduating semester, 졸업직전학기).

• Changing 2nd Major: Students who have already declared their 2nd major (including those on a leave of absence) can apply for a change of double major up until the semester prior to the final semester(the semester before their graduating semester, 졸업직전학기).

*In order to change 2nd major, students need to withdraw their current double major on the portal system ‘Application for cancellation of double major’ before the double major application period begins.

■ How to Declare Your Major

1. Go to the online Yonsei Portal Services at http://portal.yonsei.ac.kr/main/index.jsp

2. Click on "Academic Information System” and log in.

3. Choose the “Academic Affairs” menu from the top menu and then click on “UIC Major Declaration" from the Student column.

4. Select your 1st major and click the “Application” button

■ How to Apply for 2nd Major within UIC (Optional)

1. Go to the online Yonsei Portal Services at http://portal.yonsei.ac.kr/main/index.jsp

2. Click on "Academic Information System” and log in.

3. Choose the “Academic Affairs” menu from the top menu.

In order to declare / apply for a 2nd major within UIC, click on “UIC Double Major Declaration”

A. To declare 2nd major within ISED:

1) Select your major and click the "Application" button.

2) You will be accepted to the applied 2nd major within ISED Division and you can confirm by checking on the Application statement.

B. To apply for 2nd major from UD and HASS:

1) Select your desired major.

2) Fill out and save the "Reason for Application &Desired Career" and "Study Plan."

3) You can check your application statement on the page. Results will be announced in early March.

■ Guidelines

1. UIC ISED students must declare their 1st major at the end of their 2nd semester and may change it within ISED by the end of their 7th semester. Changing the 1st major is allowed only once.

2. Students may declare a 2^nd major after being assigned their 1^st major and from the 3 semesters onward. They may also change their 2^nd major up until the semester prior to their final semester (the semester before their graduating semester, 졸업직전학기).

3. To declare 2nd major from UIC UD and HASS, students are allowed to apply from their 3rd semester and may change it by the semester prior to the final semester(the previous semester of the graduating semester, 졸업직전학기). Students have to undergo a selection process to choose UD and HASS majors as a second major and each major department will select successful candidates among applicants.

4. Declaring majors / changing applications after the designated period is not permitted.

5. Students cannot declare or change their 1st major during leave of absence.

* If you want to re-apply after cancelling the approved double major, you must cancel your double major through the portal system before the double major application period begins. (Double majors can be canceled until the semester before graduation). You cannot re-apply again for the cancelled major.

* If you have been approved for a double major (second major), you can apply for a third major during the application period for graduation (or completion) without prior approval. However, if the student fails to fulfill the graduation requirement for a double major (second major), the third major is automatically cancelled and graduation (or completion) is not possible.

2025 Winter Session Registration Guidelines

The 2025 Winter semester classes will be operated in accordance with the principle of face-to-face lectures. Some classes may be blended with video contents lectures, so please make sure to check the syllabi before registering for the class.

Details of the class (class schedule and classroom, etc.) will be available through the course catalogue menu on Yonsei Portal from November 8 (Sat).

* Courses are subject to rescheduling. For the most updated course schedule and syllabi, please visit the website at http://portal.yonsei.ac.kr.

* Maximum course load: Total 7 credits for Regular Yonsei Winter Session

* The winter session credits will be added to the cumulative GPA and the degree requirement credits.

* Course repeat: The repetition of the courses taken in Fall 2025 is not allowed.

2. Eligibility
- Current Students and Students on leave (Including students on leave for military service) in Seoul & International and Mirae Campus
- If prospective graduates in 2025-2 semester takes winter session, credits completed will be reflected in their graduation requirement
- Students on leave of absence cannot graduate after completing winter session (E.g. If a student is on leave for 2025-2 semester and has met the graduation requirement by completing courses in winter session, s/he cannot graduate in February 2026.) Students on leave must register for the next regular semester and complete at least 1 credit hour to graduate (i.e. students must be registered in the university at the point they are applying for graduation.)
- It is not possible for students who are serving in the military to attend face-to-face classes. However, if their date of discharge is before the start of the winter session, they can apply for and attend winter courses. If they do not return to the military by the date of discharge during the winter session, they may receive a return order from the Ministry of National Defense. Please note that any disadvantages due to failure to comply with the return order will be the student's responsibility, so please keep this in mind when applying for courses.

3. Application

(ii) Student capacity is limited
(iii) Students can take Summer/ Winter Sessions in exchange universities (For more details, please see a separate announcement on the noticeboard)

4. Course Offerings
1) Course schedules will be announced on the website after Saturday, November 8, 2025 on Yonsei Portal.
– “Course Catalogue and Syllabus: Undergraduate & Graduate.” (Note that courses are subject to rescheduling without notice. Students are responsible for checking most updated information until the commencement date.)
2) Courses with fewer than 20 students are subject to cancellation. According to the result of course enrollment, the first and second list for course cancellation will be confirmed, and this will be announced through the noticeboard on the Yonsei website. According to the result of tuition payment, final list of course cancellation may be updated.

5. Tuition Fee: (Fees per Credit Point X No. of Credits) + Laboratory Fee
(i) Fees per Credit Point: 106,700 KRW
(ii) Laboratory Fee: Physics, Chemistry, Biology: 20,000 KRW / Mathematics, Statistics, IT: 10,000 KRW
(iii) Voluntary Service Course : 30,000 KRW

6. Maximum Course Load and Credit Recognition
(i) Maximum Course Load: 7 Credits. For online courses, students can take up to a maximum of 6 credits (however, for students who have taken military courses during the previous regular semester, including military courses, they can take up to a maximum of 7 credits).
(ii) Credit Recognition - Credits earned in the winter session will be counted towards the student’s graduation credit and GPA (However, students who were enrolled in 2003 or earlier can only earn the number of credits, but the grades will not count towards GPA)

7. Course Cancellation
(i) After completing tuition payment for the winter classes, you can request cancellation of course registration.
(ii) Procedure
- Cancellation of course registration may be made on the Yonsei Portal: If the course cannot be canceled on the portal, a request for refund shall be submitted separately to the Academic Support Team.
- Please make sure that your bank account information registered on the Yonsei Portal is correct
- Students applied for domestic exchange program must submit a cancellation request to the Academic Support Team.
(iii) Tuition Refund
- Cancellation by 23:59 on December 28, 2025: full refund of tuition fees
- Cancellation by 23:59 on January 5, 2026: two-thirds refund of tuition fees
- Cancellation by 23:59 on January 7, 2026: half refund of tuition fees
- Cancellation is NOT possible after 23:59 on January 7, 2026
(ⅳ) Course withdrawal is not allowed for summer/winter semesters.

8. General Notes

(i) Winter session can only be taken on one campus among Seoul (International) Campus, Mirae Campus or Exchange University (If a student applies for multiple locations, all will be canceled)
(ii) Course Repeat
- Students cannot re-take courses taken in the previous semester in the winter session (E.g. a course taken in 2025-2 semester cannot be retaken in this winter session.)
(iii) If the tuition payment is not completed during the registration period, the course registration details are automatically deleted.(ⅳ)The applicant for two courses cannot pay only the tuition fee for one course for the purpose of canceling the other. Students can go through the procedure for canceling one course after completing the payment for the entire courses registered.
