2025 Summer Session Registration Guidelines 

 

 

The 2025 summer semester classes will be operated in accordance with the principle of face-to-face lectures. Some classes may be blended with video contents lectures, so please make sure to check the syllabi before registering for the class.

Details of the class (class schedule and classroom, etc.) will be available through the course catalogue menu on Yonsei Portal from May 7 (Wed).


* Courses are subject to rescheduling. For the most updated course schedule and syllabi, please visit the website at http://portal.yonsei.ac.kr.

* Maximum course load: Total 7 credits for Regular Yonsei Summer Session

* The summer session credits will be added to the cumulative GPA and the degree requirement credits.

* Course repeat: The repetition of the courses taken in Spring 2025 is not allowed.   

It is the responsibility of each student to check the Yonsei University for further updates and details.

Go to Academic Management System   in Yonsei Portal. Print the bill and   make payment at any   Woori Bank in Korea (Internet banking available)

Depending on registration status, additional courses may be subject to final cancellation.

2. Eligibility 
-  Current Students and Students on leave (Including students on leave for military service) in Seoul & International and Mirae Campus
-  If prospective graduates in 2025-1 semester takes summer session, credits completed will be reflected in their graduation requirement
-  Students on leave of absence cannot graduate after completing summer session (E.g. If a student is on leave for 2025-1 semester and has met the graduation requirement by completing courses in summer session, s/he cannot graduate in August 2025.) Students on leave must register for the next regular semester and complete at least 1 credit hour to graduate (i.e. students must be registered in the university at the point they are applying for graduation.)
- It is not possible for students who are serving in the military to attend face-to-face classes. However, if their date of discharge is before the start of the summer session, they can apply for and attend summer courses. If they do not return to the military by the date of discharge during the summer session, they may receive a return order from the Ministry of National Defense. Please note that any disadvantages due to failure to comply with the return order will be the student's responsibility, so please keep this in mind when applying for courses.

 

3. Application
(i)  Seoul & International Campus: Course Registration URL: http://portal.yonsei.ac.kr (Go to Yonsei website à sign into Yonsei Portal System)
(ii) Student capacity is limited
(iii) Students can take Summer/ Winter Sessions in exchange universities (For more details, please see a separate announcement on the noticeboard)

 

4. Course Offerings 
1) Course schedules will be announced on the website after Wednesday, May 7, 2025 on Yonsei Portal.
      – “Course Catalogue and Syllabus: Undergraduate & Graduate.” (Note that courses are subject to rescheduling without notice. Students are responsible for checking most updated information until the commencement date.)
2) Courses with fewer than 20 students are subject to cancellation. According to the result of course enrollment, the first and second list for course cancellation will be confirmed, and this will be announced through the noticeboard on the Yonsei website. According to the result of tuition payment, final list of course cancellation may be updated.

 

5. Tuition Fee: (Fees per Credit Point X No. of Credits) + Laboratory Fee
(i)    Fees per Credit Point: 106,700  KRW
(ii)   Laboratory Fee: Physics, Chemistry, Biology:  20,000 KRW / Mathematics, Statistics, IT: 10,000 KRW
(iii)  Voluntary Service Course : 30,000 KRW

 

6. Maximum Course Load and Credit Recognition
(i)   Maximum Course Load: 7 Credits. For online courses, students can take up to a maximum of 6 credits (however, for students who have taken military courses during the previous regular semester, including military courses, they can take up to a maximum of 7 credits).
(ii)  Credit Recognition -   Credits earned in the summer session will be counted towards the student’s graduation credit and GPA (However, students who were enrolled in 2003 or earlier can only earn the number of credits, but the grades will not count towards GPA)  

 

7. Course Cancellation
(i)  After completing tuition payment for the summer classes, you can request cancellation of course registration.
(ii)  Procedure
- Cancellation of course registration may be made on the Yonsei Portal: If the course cannot be canceled on the portal, a request for refund shall be submitted separately to the Academic Support Team.
- Please make sure that your bank account information registered on the Yonsei Portal is correct
- Students applied for domestic exchange program must submit a cancellation request to the  Academic Support Team.
(iii)  Tuition Refund
- Cancellation by 23:59 on June 29, 2025: full refund of tuition fees
- Cancellation by 23:59 on July 4, 2025: two-thirds refund of tuition fees
- Cancellation by 23:59 on July 8, 2025: half refund of tuition fees
- Cancellation is NOT possible after July 8, 2025
(ⅳ)  Course withdrawal is not allowed for summer/winter semesters.

 

8. General Notes

(i) Summer session can only be taken on one campus among Seoul (International) Campus, Mirae Campus or Exchange University (If a student applies for multiple locations, all will be canceled)
(ii)   Course Repeat
- Students cannot re-take courses taken in the previous semester in the summer session (E.g. a course taken in 2025-1 semester cannot be retaken in this summer session.)
(iii) If the tuition payment is not completed during the registration period, the course registration details are automatically deleted.(ⅳ)The applicant for two courses cannot pay only the tuition fee for one course for the purpose of canceling the other.  Students can go through the procedure for canceling one course after completing the payment for the entire courses registered.
